Ancestral Connection On Samhain 🕯
Share
Whether you're regularly venerating your ancestors or it's part of a Sabbat in which you honour them, Samhain marks the time of the year when the veil between our two worlds is the thinnest. Meaning it's now easier than ever to start including your ancestors in your spiritual practices, and the time of the year where traditionally we can connect with the dead. Today I'm going to talk through some easy ways to include your ancestors in any Samhain celebrations 🕯
- Build them an altar - see this post for more ideas
- Visit their grave or any special places in which you can remember them
- Add offerings to their place of rest or altar space - this could be flowers, food, liquor, money, tobacco, or anything you'll think they would enjoy
- Include them in meals - on Samhain evening you can set an extra place at the table and leave it empty, or add some of your meal to their altar space
- Guide them to you - add a white seven day candle to your windowsill to guide their journey
- Use divination - after you have left offerings and lit candles, use divination tools to interpret any messages they might be sending you
- Write them a gratitude letter - something I like to do on Samhain is write a gratitude letter, thanking my ancestors for all their guidance and support, both in this life and their previous lives. This can be left on your ancestor altar or burned.
How do you include your ancestors in your Samhain celebrations?
